A Virgin Espresso Martini can be a mocktail to serve any time of day. If you’re looking for a fun brunch drink, this one is ideal. I’ve never met a coffee-lover who does not also love an espresso martini.

It’s a fancy way to enjoy an iced coffee that will remind you of the super trendy Espresso Martini.

This Espresso Martini Mocktail is an espresso martini for when you need something without any alcohol. The Seedlip Spice 94 gives it complexity to elevate a standard cold brew into something more co*cktail-like.

It’s the perfect mocktail to enjoy with brunch when you’ve got plans later on in the day.

Here’s what you need to make a Non Alcoholic Espresso Martini:

Seedlip makes delicious non-alcoholic spirits. Their original serve makes a killer alternative to a gin and tonic, and I like using Seedlip Spice 94 in seasonal drinks which would benefit from its warming notes of allspice and cardamom.

Use your favorite cold brew concentrate here. I like to use an espresso blend if I can find it.

You can make your own simple syrup or use store-bought sugar syrup.

Step 3

Add ice and shake well.

Strain into a coupe glass.

To Serve

Garnish with three coffee beans. Or don’t. Up to you.

Tip

There will be some foam on the top of the glass from shaking. If you don’t like the look, use the back of a spoon and a piece of paper towel to skim it off. I did that for photos, but I wouldn’t care about the foam when drinking.

The Seedlip is flavorful but watery. If you prefer to sip something with a little more body I would consider adding cream to give it more heft.

Variations

  • Use flavored syrup – simple syrup is essential to balancing this virgin espresso martini, and you can use it to add extra flavorings. Both my vanilla simple syrup and my vanilla cinnamon simple syrup would be delicious here!
  • Up the coffee flavor – if you want an extra hit of coffee sprinkle a little espresso powder over the top of the co*cktail for an even fancier finish. A little cocoa powder also gives a lovely effect!
  • Make it creamy – add a dash of heavy cream to the co*cktail shaker for a creamy finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use home brewed coffee in this recipe?

Yes, you’ll need a 1:8 ratio of coffee to water, and to start it way in advance so it is completely chilled before making your mocktail. You need it really strong!

How do I get a really foamy bartender-style top on my espresso martini?

You’ll get a bit of a foam on your martini just from shaking the drinks together, but you can guarantee a beautiful white top by shaking a small egg white our a splash of aquafaba together with your drink.
