The following is a list of episode summaries ofSonic X , an anime based on theSonic the Hedgehogvideo game series. Its original run was on Sundays from April 6, 2003 to March 28, 2004 with 52 episodes in total which are collectively known as Japanese "Series 1". Episodes 53-78, which are collectively known as "Series 2", never aired on TV or released on DVD in Japan but were available through rental streaming services. These episodes were first broadcast on TV in some other countries before they aired on US/UK Television.
The English dub of the episodes were produced by4Kids Entertainment(which aired on FOX on the Saturday morning block FoxBox, later renamed 4Kids TV, from 2003 to 2006). Episodes 1-52 were split were referred to as Seasons 1 and 2, each 26 episodes long, and episodes 53-78 were referred to as Season 3. However, the Saga Set DVD releases split the first two seasons further into six seasons, with each set containing 13 episodes.

Sonic blasts into Dr. Eggman's base to gain control of the Seven Chaos Emeralds and rescue his friends Cream & Cheese. In the heat of battle, all seven Chaos Emeralds are joined together, causing an overpowered Chaos Control to transport Sonic from his home planet, dropping him right in the middle of Station Square.
Is he alone in this human world? What happened to his friends? And why has he been sent here?

The police are rendered helpless, and the mayor panics. Just when it looks as if all is over, Sonic makes his appearance... | ||||||

The group and Dr. Eggman are under observation by the government. They decide to send an operative, Mr. Stewart, into the school system as a teacher to monitor Chris. Afterwards, a Chaos Emerald located at a construction site causes a machine to go berserk, which alerts Eggman, Sonic's group, Chris, and Mr. Stewart. They all eventually reach the site. Chris manages to sneak up on Eggman, who has found the emerald. Eggman manages to take the emerald away from Chris and runs to his little plane, but Chris soon catches up with him and manages to take the emerald away from Eggman. During that time Chris is knocked off of Eggman's plane and starts to fall. Mr. Stewart, who happens to be following Chris attempts to save him, but Sonic reaches him first. | ||||||

Meanwhile, Tails and Chris discover the third Chaos Emerald in a field and fly for it in the X-Tornado, but Eggman and E-51 catch up and trap them. Rouge, Knuckles, and the others who infiltrated the base set up a bomb in the power sector and attempt to escape, but they are locked up by the shutter door. Sonic has to take it upon himself to obtain the third and fourth Chaos Emeralds and defeat Eggman. |
Chaos Emerald Saga
Now being hailed as heroes thanks to what happened in the last arc, Sonic's friends are able to get out of the house more often and go explore other places around Earth. However, following the destruction of his base, Dr. Eggman is quickly able to build a replacement base: a flying fortress called the Egg Fort, and resumes his diabolical attempts to achieve world domination and collect the final Chaos Emeralds. With this, Sonic's feud with Dr. Eggman develops into a battle of wits and trickery.

He immediately sends Sonic a written invitation. Chuck prepares brand new tuxedos for Sonic and the others. However, Sonic says he has something else to do. It turns out he promised to meet with Helen, a girl who is Chris' classmate and wheelchair bound. Wanting to have Sonic present at any cost, the aide uses special forces to chase after him. | ||||||

He figures that the fastest way to get back, is to collect the Chaos Emeralds. However, instead of meeting Sonic, Chris ends up listening to what Knuckles has to say, and the two head into the forest where Eggman is. But Eggman betrays them and keeps all six emeralds for himself and kidnaps Chris, with the seventh emerald in the hands of his robot, Lucky. | ||||||

While Sonic's able to get the last emerald from Lucky, Eggman has the other six and causes a tense battle ensues between Sonic and Eggman's E-99 Eggsterminator powered by the six Chaos Emerald that ends with Eggman losing control, Sonic and the Chaos Emeralds falling into the water, and Sonic to transform into his Super form to deal with the E-99, causing another Chaos Control that causes a mysterious island to appear.

Chaos Saga (Sonic Adventure Adaption)
It's six months since the second Chaos Control, and things in Station Square seem pretty quiet. But Eggman has secretly been cooking up his most devilish creation yet: Chaos. And the doctor has his new weird creature on a strange and dangerous diet. It grows more powerful with each Chaos Emerald he feeds it! And it's up to Sonic and Knuckles to stop this menace before they destroy Station Square.

About a week after the floods, Eggman discovers the secret lab of his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik. Freeing his creation Shadow the Hedgehog, Eggman uncovers his grandfather's plan to destroy the world! And even worse, with Shadow on the loose, Sonic's blamed for Shadow's criminal activity and is sent to Prison Island. Will Sonic be freed in time to stop Eggman's evil plan? Or is he already too late?

Egg Moon Saga
To make up for his destruction of half of the moon, a seemingly sincere Eggman has repaired it. But, during the New Year celebration, the orbiting Egg Moon blocks the sun. By using his giant mirror towers, Eggman rapidly restores the light and Station Square's citizens hail him as their hero. But Sonic- suspecting another Eggman trick- topples the towers...and becomes public enemy #1. Are Sonic's dark suspicions right...or has Eggman finally seen the light?

Just as things almost get out of control, however, Sonic reveals to the others that Eggman was purposely causing the Egg Moon to obstruct the sunlight so that he could brainwash the people with his Sunshine Balls. Season 3 - The Metarex Saga
Six months after returning from Earth, Sonic faces off against a mysterious metal warrior, eager to steal the Chaos Emeralds from him. Even in his Super form, Sonic proves no match, and has to use Chaos Control to send the Chaos Emeralds away. And that's only the start of his troubles!
More machines show up, making off with the "planet egg" from Sonic's world, the source of all its life energies. Without the planet egg, Sonic's home will perish, and there's no way he'll let that happen! Taking to space aboard Tails' newest invention, the gang heads out to fight this steely foe. But their new friend from another world, Cosmo, is worried. Even if Sonic is the last hope to defeat the Metarex, can he really do it?

Both Eggman and Sonic's gang have located the last 2 Chaos Emeralds. Unfotunately, they are onboard a heavily guarded Metarex space fortress. Eggman proposes a little teamwork: Members from each group will enter the fortress and disarm the security system. After that, it's a race for the prize, finders keepers! Sonic and the gang agree, and Chris joins Shadow and Rouge on a mission to disarm the alarm. They're successful and both teams set off for the emeralds. Sonic’s gang easily takes the lead, but Eggman has some dirty tricks up his sleeve. When they finally reach the emeralds, they find the Metarex are using them for their evil plans. Sonic squares off with Dark Oak and his army of Metarex. Meanwhile Tails reports that the Blue Typhoon has been surrounded by Metarex battleships. Cosmo uses the code she deciphered to swipe the Metarex's emeralds and release the Planet Egg. When the Metarex realize what has happened they open fire on their own fortress, hoping to destroy Sonic and the others along with it. Chris is able to nab Eggman's emeralds, so all seven are now together again. Sonic and Shadow proceed to have a Super Showdown. |
